Coach
PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
Bobby started playing volleyball after graduating from Franklin College where he played tennis. He played lots of sand and indoor volleyball post college. He has gone through a couple surgeries due to playing and unfortunately doesn’t get out on the court as much as he would like to!
COACHING EXPERIENCE:
Bobby actually started his coaching journey at Clay High School as the boys tennis head coach. He was named NIC coach of the year in 2005 and led the colonials to their only 3 sectional titles in school history.
He started coaching volleyball when his daughter was old enough to play power league. He hasn’t stopped since. He has coached club volleyball since 2017 and has taken multiple teams to nationals. He also coach the varsity program at Christ the King for multiple years leading them to back to back ICCL Championships. He has recently coached at the 14 Purple and 15 Black levels at Niva. In 2021 he joined the John Adams High School (his alma mater) staff as Freshman assistant. That team produced one of the best records by a freshman team at Adams ever. The following year he became the JV coach, and in 2023 he was named head varsity coach. In his first year, the team went 22-10 (by far their best record in a few decades). Based on the quick turnaround and success of the program, he was voted on by his peers as NIC coach of the year for volleyball.
Coaching Philosophy – Volleyball is a game and games should be fun! Bobby strives his best to make sure we are having fun while learning all the fundamentals and creating competitors out of our kids! Volleyball is awesome!!!
PERSONAL:
Bobby is married to his high school sweetheart, Lisa…the best team mom in the business. He has two daughters, Chloe and Jenna, who are apart of Niva and the Adams program.
