  • Inspired by an energetic gym teacher named Mrs. Frye, Amanda started playing volleyball in the 5th grade. Wanting to become a more competitive athlete, she started playing for the Shank You travel program in the winter of her 7th grade season as a middle blocker. Finishing her high school travel career under Coach/NIVA Director Adria. She also attended Concord High School in Elkhart, making JV as a freshman and varsity as a sophomore.
  • Amanda started coaching as a volunteer club coach for the Concord Feeder program a few years ago. 2024-2025 was her first travel season with NIVA coaching the 13U Grey team. She is excited to continue coaching at NIVA and to learn new coaching strategies. Previously she has also coached little league and travel softball.

  • Emily went on to play at Grace College in Winona Lake, IN. She was a ds during her time and made it into the record books as one of the top 10 players with the most aces in a career.

She was the head coach at Berrien Springs high school for 5 years where they won several tournaments and a district championship. She has been a part of the NIVA coaching staff since 2019. Currently she is the 8th grade coach at Schmucker Middle School and coaches our 14 Black National Team.

  • Rachel graduated from Elkhart Memorial where she played both Volleyball and Softball. During her time playing volleyball in high school, she was a part of a team that achieved many accolades, including NLC Conference Champions, Sectional Champions, and two-time Regional Champions. In 2007, she helped lead the team to a remarkable 36-4 record, finishing as IHSAA Class 4A State Runner-Up. The following year, she contributed to another outstanding season, finishing with a 36-2 record and securing 3rd place as Class 4A State Finalists. 
  • Rachel continued her volleyball career at Mars Hill University in Asheville, NC, where she played as a defensive specialist for two years. After her collegiate career, she moved back to Indiana to study Exercise Science at IUPUI, marking the beginning of her coaching journey.
  • She began her coaching career with Circle City Volleyball Club, where she spent three years coaching. It was there she connected with the Ben Davis High School Head Coach, who later recruited her to be the Freshman Coach for two seasons. Rachel lived in Indianapolis for about five years before returning home to Elkhart, IN. Once back, she coached with former mentor Vince Strefling at Krush Volleyball Club in Niles, MI for two seasons. Afterward, Rachel transitioned to NIVA, where she continued to grow as a coach.
  • In 2017, Rachel took on the Head Freshman Coach role at Elkhart Memorial, her alma mater, where she coached for three years until job conflicts required her resignation. Over her coaching career, she has worked with players aged 15-18, and she continues to find joy in every moment. Coaching allows her to stay connected to the sport she loves so deeply.

  • Reanan started playing volleyball as an adult through the YMCA competitive leagues in Niles, Michigan.  She also played on coed leagues in New Buffalo and currently plays beach volleyball at Wings, Etc., during their summer coed leagues and indoor leagues at the Kroc Center in South Bend.
  • Reanan served as the assistant coach at Goshen College for the boys varsity program for 5 years.  She had to stop coaching in that role in 2021.
  • Reanan coached YMCA youth leagues for 5 years.  She also has done private lessons for players in the Michiana area.  When her daughter started to play travel volleyball, she took a break from coaching to be able to watch her games.
  • Reanan has been involved with NIVA since 2014.  She served as a team mom for her daughter’s travel teams when she played NIVA.  She has coached 13U-15U National and Elite teams.
