Coach
PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
John “Shooter” Himschoot has been involved in the sport of volleyball for over 30 years, both as a player and as a coach. For 18 years, he played for a local men’s volleyball team in the USAV Men’s Indoor League that competed throughout the Midwest. He also played sand volleyball for 20 years and got the chance (with Louie Hickey) to play a doubles match against the #1 and #2 sand players in the world, Karch Kiraly and Mike Dodd.
COACHING EXPERIENCE:
Throughout his 31 year coaching career, Shooter has coached various age groups (12U-18U) for club (travel) and high school (JV-Varsity).
While at Mishawaka High School, he was the JV coach from 2002-2006 and a Varsity Assistant from 1992-2006, in which the team made numerous appearances at the Indiana State Volleyball Tournament.
Shooter had been a Varsity Assistant at Elkhart from 2006-2024, in which the team made 3 appearances at the State Volleyball Tournament. He is now a Varsity Assistant at Penn High School.
In the off-season, he has coached at 3 different volleyball clubs in Northern Indiana. In the late 1990’s, Shooter was at the Shank You Volleyball Club where he was an assistant coach at the travel 15U, 16U and 17U age levels. In the early 2000’s, he was a 12U head coach and a travel 14U assistant coach at the Network Volleyball Club. While at NIVA (2007-present), he has been a head coach and/or an assistant coach at 13U, 14U and 16U travel.

I am blessed to have a beautiful and loving wife, Holly, and a cat, Hula.
