Coach
An Oregon native, Kalista was a multi-sport athlete throughout high school excelling not only in volleyball but also playing basketball and running track. As a volleyball player, she was versatile and impactful – starting as a middle blocker her sophomore year, playing both middle and outside as a junior, and stepping into the starting setter role during her senior season. Kalista was a 3-time All-State selection and helped lead her team to Top 8 finishes at the 6A state level all four years. She also played club volleyball for Webfoot Volleyball Club out of Eugene, Oregon.
COACHING EXPERIENCE:
Kalista began her coaching career 13 years ago in Oregon and became a certified referee for middle and high school volleyball 8 years ago. After relocating to Indiana in 2020, she continued her passion for the sport and has been coaching with NIVA since 2022. Kalista emphasizes the importance of strong fundamentals, teamwork, and maintaining a positive mindset both on and off the court. Her goal is to help athletes grow not only as skilled players but also as confident and respectful teammates and individuals.
PERSONAL:
When she’s not coaching, Kalista enjoys playing volleyball, slow-pitch softball, traveling, camping, and spending time with her boyfriend Tyler, their two children (13 year old daughter and 2 year old son), two dogs, and four cats.
