Boys Rec FAQ

Who can play boys rec?
Boys rec is open to players in 3rd-12th grade. There are no tryouts, and every registered player is placed on a team based on grade, experience and ability.
Where do boys rec teams practice?
All boys rec teams practice at Mishawaka Fieldhouse. Families share preferred practice days and times during registration, and each team receives one consistent weekly practice time for the full season.
When are teams announced?
Team emails and practice schedules are sent December 9.
Who do they play?
NIVA boys often play girls' teams in our rec league. While we are continually working to grow the boys' game, we do not yet have enough teams to run a boys-only league. We pair boys teams against other boys teams whenever possible while still providing a variety of competition.
What is included in fees?
Fees include player and coach insurance, practices, tournaments, equipment, coach pay, two uniform tops, and 12 free spectator entries for each player across the power league season. Families receive two entries per weekend, but the 12 entries may be used however they choose.
What is not included in fees?
Spectator admission beyond the included entries is not covered. Additional spectator admission is $5 per person at power league tournaments.
What is the power league?
The power league is NIVA's internal tournament series for NIVA rec teams and participating outside teams. Results and points are tracked throughout the season, and the series concludes with a two-day finale where teams compete for a championship in each division.
Where are club-wide play dates held?
All rec teams play their power league dates at Mishawaka Fieldhouse, 6155 Veterans Parkway, Mishawaka, Indiana.
